Established in 2014, EAST LAKE RECREATION was created through Ad Valorem Tax dollars by Pinellas County. It is managed by Palm Harbor Community Services Agency. Prior to becoming East Lake Recreation it was known as East Lake Youth Sports Association, a totally private funded association run entirely by volunteers.
An increase in the volume of participants and the cost of maintaining the aging complex, along with the need for higher participation fees became a burden for ELYSA. They approached the County for help to lower participation fees, address aging infrastructure needs, and future expansion. The County agreed and East Lake Recreation was established in Oct. of 2014.
